Detroit News II

The Buick was knocked for being big, expensive, boring and environmentally destructive. Can't argue with most of that. Let's try something different.

What do you guys think of this one?

It's got 105 horsepower, five doors, gets 38 mpg on the highway, and has a 160-watt, six-speaker stereo. And it can all be yours in April for around $14,000. The best part? It's the Fit from Honda.

So. Whatdya think?

Yeah, this one's much more agreeable than that last one.

For my pocketbook, beats the Buick, but that is because I don't have 30-40K plus gas for an SUV.

However, at first glance, too much like the Aveo five door which starts at about $4k less. A little improvement in gas milelage over the Aveo but not by much. I have same gripe I do with the Aveo, give me more horsies. I also wonder about headroom and interior space. Particularly with a manual, I like to have a little leg room. Overall a nice looking car, but with the Aveo, Matrix, Mazda5, etc. already on the market I just wonder if Honda is jumping in the niche too late.

Thanks guys for the comments. I really appreciate the input.

Yeah, Jonathan. I, too, thought it resembled the Aveo a lot. But I think the Fit might be larger. Not sure, though. Honda could be a bit late to the market, but brings with it that famous Honda dependability. Only the Matrix really competes on that front.

I plan to check this one out as soon as it hits the market. We don't need a new car, but things might change after April.
